Aurora Athletics Win Championship
The Aurora Athletics defeated the Make The Right Pitch Doubledays #1 in the Championship Game of the Buckeye Baseball League. The final score was 3-1. Both Teams played very well and were backed by strong pitching and defense.
In the 1st Inning, MRP #1 got their bats rolling and put their lone run up. The Athletics responded by seizing the lead shortly thereafter and never relented. Although MRP threatened in the last inning, they were unable to score.
The Aurora Athletics completed their Regular Season and League Playoff schedule by remaining undefeated. The Athletics capped their perfect season in the Buckeye Baseball League with a record of 18-0. This talented squad achieved much this season including finishing second in the entire State of Ohio in the 9U Division.
The Make The Right Pitch Doubledays finished their season with a mark of 15-3. Their trademark of play was contact hitting and defensive fundamentals. This well-trained Team earned many of their victories by putting the ball in play and by making less mistakes than their opponents. MRP #1 was a joy to watch all year long as they improved with every contest. Most recently, this improvement was observed as the MRP Doubledays #1 vanquished a strong field of Teams in the Mentor Firecracker Tournament earning a victory in the Championship Game and the Tournament Title.
Coach Jeff Fromwiller of the Aurora Athletics and Coach Jay Murphy of MRP #1 deserve a great deal of credit for the manner in which their boys played. Both men are professionals and a credit to the League and the sport of baseball.
