9U Twinsburg victorious; 10U Aurora Athletics repeat

The 9U Twinsburg Tigers defeated the Nordonia Knights in the 9U Buckeye League Championship last evening.  With the victory, the Twinsburg Tigers achieved their 19th win of the year versus League Teams.  Nordonia fought hard all game and all season long while finishing the year 16-4 for the year in the Buckeye League.

The 10U Championship was a repeat of the 2009 Championship pitting the Aurora Athletics versus the Make The Right Pitch Doubledays #1.  Both Teams had finished with a record of 14-2 in the Regular Season in their respective Divisions in 2010 prior to “running the table” in the Playoffs on the way to the Championship.  In the Championship Game, the Athletics jumped out to 4-0 lead in the 1st inning, which proved to be enough cushion in order to earn the victory.  The Athletics pitching was outstanding in the Championship!  The combination of starter Evan Fromwiller and Cole Miller gave up only one run in the contest.  The final score was 6-1.

10U Gehrig Playoff Semi-Final

The HRS Express and MRP #1 (the #1 and #2 Seed respectively) faced off today at John Carroll University in the Gehrig Division Semi-Final.  The Winner would advance to the League Championship.  It was a very competitive battle throughout most of the contest.  The score was tied at 2-2 after 4 innings.  In the top of the 5th with 2 runners on and 2 outs, Patrick Jordon doubled to left center driving in the 2 base runners.  In the final 3 innings, Danny Murphy did not give up a run to the strong HRS line-up while relinquishing only 1 hit.  The final score was MRP #1  8    HRS Express   2.

The HRS Express had a fantastic season!  HRS was perfect throughout the Regular season going 16-0, and actually had a 17 game winning streak in the League with counting their opening Playoff win over the Kenston Bombers.  The HRS Express was in first place from the opening day of the season and was crowned as the Gehrig Division Champion for the regular season.  Congratulations to the players of the HRS Express and Coach Newmark!!
